Ghanta (tibetan: drilbu) is the Sanskrit term for a ritual bell used in Hinduism religious practices. The ringing of the bell produces what is regarded as an auspicious sound. In Hinduism, bells are generally hung at the temple dome. Generally, devotees ring the bell while entering into the sanctum. It is said that by ringing the bell, the devotee informs the deity of his/her arrival. The sound of the bell is considered auspicious which welcomes divinity and dispels evil. The sound of the bell is said to disengage mind from ongoing thoughts thus making the mind more receptive.

The Ghanta symbol is also meditated on with the dorje which is called 'vajra'  meaning 'thunderbolt' or 'diamond,'

The vajra is considered to be like a diamond which is indestructible but have the ability to destroy all evil.

The thunderbolt is used as a symbol to destroy ignorance and has been known as the 'Thunderbolt Way' or the 'Diamond Way.' The thunderbolt experience is a powerful and irresistible force of enlightenment. It is a symbol of union of the relative truth that we experience in everyday life, and absolute truth that is the timeless state of being unified with nature and everything around us.

Tibetan 6 words mantra, Om Mani Padme Hum, or hail to the jewel in the lotus, is the ancient Tibetan mantra or prayer for realizing perfect wisdom and compassion. Travelers to Tibet find it everywhere -- printed on prayer flags, inside and outside prayer wheels, carved onto prayer stones and even on mountain sides.

Tibetan Buddhists believe each complete recitation of the 6 words mantra invokes the powerful benevolent attention and blessings of Chenrezig, the embodiment of compassion.
